As he was growing up, Jim Horlander liked to play with the tools in his dad’s workshop for hours on end. He would tear things apart just to see how they worked and then put them back together again. This would be a hint into his future career as the owner of Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling.
Jim received his training from Kansas City, Kansas, A.V.T.S. and was awarded the Kansas V.I.C.A. (Skills USA) top awarded for knowledge in 1991. He has worked on heating and air conditioning units in thousands of KC area homes and businesses for over 23 years, and through those years of experience, he has prided himself in giving honest, quality service to each and every customer.
At the urging of his wife Becky and his two kids, Jim took the leap into starting his own heating and cooling company. After thinking carefully about what core values this new company should be developed and built around, two things kept surfacing; quality workmanship and the basic Midwestern/Heartland values that Jim had grown to love. Thus the birth of Heartland Quality Heating & Cooling.
As Heartland Quality grows, Jim and his family go the extra mile to ensure that these core values are met on each visit in a customer’s home. Their technicians take pride in their work and make sure the job is done right, the first time. The team at Heartland Quality knows the harmful effects of dirty air in the home and work diligently to make your home clean and energy efficient.T

Rowdy Zesati was our service technician. He did a great job. He was nice, courteous, and did the best job of any heating/air conditioning technician who has worked on our unit.

I appreciated getting a call that my furnace was due for a checkup. Rowdy Zesati did all the right things for me. He called before he arrived - EARLY! I happen to be wearing a boot due to a foot injury, so he came upstairs every time he had a question or let me know what was going on. He reviewed everything he did/checked on the furnace and let me know it's condition. We discussed the advantages of their "membership". Everything I needed and nothing I didn't! I can't ask for anything better!

Heartland is great. I had a new high-end Carrier heat pump system (indoor and outdoor) installed. Josh and Bob were the technicians. Very professional, very polite, explained things very well, worked well together, great personalities. Given it’s a union shop, Heartland employees are very well-trained (apprenticeship), which is what I highly value. You get high quality. Marc, the residential manager, is great, too. Knows his stuff. Very personable. I am very, very satisfied with Heartland. As a retired marketing professor, I look at the consumer and the business. Heartland is very well-run (look at their web site) (and, they take credit cards — points!).

Very Happy! I called today at 9 am and my AC was up and running by 2 pm. Great service! Prompt and reliable even though it was 100 degrees outside. I had called several other companies and was told it would be a few days before they could make it out. Their prices seemed very reasonable.

Furnace died during one of the coldest days in January and these guys were at our house within an hour of us calling. Sadly, it wasn't worth fixing, but had a new system installed the next day. Guys were great had us warmed up by in no time. I can't recommend Heartland Quality enough!

I knew we needed a new HVAC system because ours was almost 20 years old. I called a major company in the area and after seeing the price, decided we needed a 2nd quote. Jim from Heartland rushed out on a Saturday to provide the estimate. I was very pleased with how knowledgeable and straightforward he was. He was very up front about the fact that our HVAC closet was not large enough for a whole house humidifier. I did not feel any pressure to commit to the large purchase and there were no pressure tactics. After comparing the quote from Heartland with the other company, we called Jim to install. The installation was scheduled very quickly and the team arrived on time the morning of the install. There was a small issue during installation but the Heartland team was very responsive and addressed it right away. I am very happy with the customer service, the expertise of the installers, and the quality of my system. I'm very glad I got a 2nd quote for such a large investment in our home.

Heartland Quality HVAC was recommended to us by our plumber. He uses them for his own property. When our HVAC system failed, we called and they were out the very next day on time. Unfortunately, our system was shot(and old), so he recommended replacement. After we talked to Tom, and he gave us all of our options, we picked a system and scheduled the work for the next day. Again, they showed up on time ready to work. They were very professional and efficient. They appeared experienced and worked very well together. One team replaced the outside unit, and one team worked inside. This is a small family business. The owner himself was on sight! Couldn't be happier with their service. If your'e looking for the cheapest price in town, Heartland probably isn't for you. If you believe (like I do) that you get what you pay for, then these guys are it!!

Heartland installed a new AC unit and furnace after determining that my old unit had a leaky coil. Tom gave me several options for repairing or replacing. The work was done promptly and professionally and all the Heartland people have been a pleasure to work with.

Called Heartland based on previous reviews and they were correct. Jim answered gave immediate advice and said he would have a technician at My house by 10:30. John called at 9:40 and said he might be a few min late due to time a previous call. He showed up at 10:10 which was 20 min before expected. He diagnosed the issue in just a few min. He gave me a quote and proceeded to fix my issue. I have been in the customer service business for 30 years and I have never had a more thorough experience. Communication and honesty is the key to a successful business and customers loyalty. I can assure you I will never call anyone else for my heating and cooling needs. Thanks John and Heartland quality heating and cooling. It is the way you conduct your business that makes the difference.
These guys were great! My AC went out on a Friday night in the middle of the summer. I called at least 10 places and Heartland was the only business willing to come out on Saturday and not charge me double! The technician was nice, respectful and efficient. I’d recommend them to anyone and will definitely call them again.
...they gave me a military discount. I never asked for it... Called them yesterday because my AC went out. They offered a same day appointment. The service was great, the employee was very friendly and personable. The price was fair. But the kicker, when I looked at the receipt closer several hours later, I noticed that they gave me a military discount. I never asked for it, didn’t even know they offered it. The service man must have noticed my Marine Corps flag and took it upon himself to give the discount.
I would never use anyone other than Heartland Quality. You will not find anyone more knowledgeable and honest than Jim. A very rare combination.
