The Owners

Jim Horlander is the co-owner of Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling, with his wife Becky. Jim started his heating and cooling career in 1991, as a student in the industry. Jim was awarded #1 in the State of Kansas for HVAC Knowledge by VICA (Skills USA) in 1991 and continued to win multiple awards from his previous jobs in the HVAC industry for dedication, quality, and versatility prior to starting his own company in 2011.

As the larger companies were switching their employees to commission-based pay he began to notice less of a “family friendly”environment. In hopes of returning this environment to the industry, Jim created Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling in 2011. He ran Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling out of his garage for the first year on his family’s ping pong table.  Jim’s high attention to detail and word-of-mouth led his company to grow over the last several years of operation.

aBecky Horlander- Owner

Becky Horlander is co-owner of Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling with her husband Jim. Becky graduated from Iowa State University with a BS in English and Journalism. As the company has grown so has Becky’s role in daily operations. She does all of the accounting, assists in the weekly training and helps in customer service. She’s also the company cheerleader constantly providing support where it is needed.

Supervisors & Office Staff

Tom DavisTom Davis is Heartland Quality’s “Comfort Solutions Specialist”. Tom graduated from Newman University in Wichita with a BS in Business Administration and Industrial Management. He has 30 plus years of sales experience. He has been with us for 5 years and is constantly learning about new products and services that can help with homeowner’s comfort and safety. He is the first to help out and is willing to do just about anything for our clients. Tom’s infectious laugh and high energy level help keep everyone going. Tom’s biggest accomplishment is his family.


Bailey Horlander is the marketing and human resource manager. She graduated from Baker University with a BS in Business and Graphic Design in May of 2018, then shortly after joined the Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling team. While attending Baker, she achieved Academic All-American as a cross-country/track athlete. She is also the child of the owners and is planning on keeping Heartland Quality as a family-owned and operated business, as the 2nd generation of the business.



Joshua is an install and service technician. Before joining us he completed the HVAC Job Ready program through the Metropolitan Community College.  Joshua is eager to learn and has attended several classes to continue his growth in the industry. On his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs.


Scott SummersScott has been a residential HVAC installer and service technician for the past six years. Scott has an eye for detail and a particular care for the customers he helps inform. On his off time he enjoys fishing, hunting, working on diesel trucks and spending time with his family! 

Dustin HoffmanDustin has been in the heating and cooling industry for six years in both the residential and commercial side of hvac. Dustin is particularly good at showing customers how to keep their system working at max capacity. On his free time he enjoys spending time on his street bike and being around his 4 daughters. 







Chief Fluffy Executives

Meet Barley, he is our fluffiest of officers. He has been a part of the Heartland Quality Team since we opened doors in 2011. He is known around the office for being a good boy. 



Rosie is still in training to be Barley’s retirement plan. Rosie is assistant to Barley. She is still learning not to nervous pee when she gets excited to talk to all of our wonderful customers and team members.

My AC went out on a Friday night in the middle of the summer. I called at least 10 places and Heartland was the only business willing to come out on Saturday and not charge me double! The technician was nice, respectful and efficient. I’d recommend them to anyone and will definitely call them again.
