The Owners

about heartland quality

Jim Horlander is the co-owner of Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling, with his wife Becky. He started his heating and cooling career in 1991, as a student in the industry. Jim was awarded #1 in the State of Kansas for HVAC Knowledge by VICA (Skills USA) in 1991 and continued to win multiple awards from his previous jobs in the HVAC industry for dedication, quality, and versatility prior to starting his own company in 2011.

As the larger companies were switching their employees to commission-based pay he began to notice less of a “family friendly”environment. In hopes of returning this environment to the industry, Jim created Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling in 2011. He ran Heartland Quality Heating and Cooling out of his garage for the first year on his family’s ping pong table.  Jim’s high attention to detail and word-of-mouth led his company to grow over the last several years of operation.

...they gave me a military discount. I never asked for it...
Called them yesterday because my AC went out.  They offered a same day appointment.  The service was great, the employee was very friendly and personable.  The price was fair.  But the kicker, when I looked at the receipt closer several hours later, I noticed that they gave me a military discount.  I never asked for it, didn’t even know they offered it.  The service man must have noticed my Marine Corps flag and took it upon himself to give the discount.
